Passing: My Great Aunt

My dear great aunt of 98 years old passed away last week. Here she is with my handsome nephew.

She lined danced until she was 92 years old.

She loved the movie Dirty Dancing and most especially Patrick Swayze's dancing.

Last year, she took a ride in a hot air balloon.

She taught me how to smock the old fashioned way.

She always had a dog and the dog was always spoiled.

She looked exactly the same as long as I can remember... in fact, my daughter made the same remark at her viewing.

I will miss her.

  4. It is so difficult when we lose loved members of the family. I will pray for your family's comfort at this difficult time.

P.S. She was beautiful, both outside, and by how you described her, inside as well.

  5. Oh Cynthia...I'm so sorry. I know you have wonderful, beautiful memories of her. But it doesn't make it any easier, does it?

    Thinking of you.

  6. So sorry for your loss. Sounds like you really appreciated all that her wisdom and life experiences had to offer. I think sometimes we forget that our older relatives have so much to share about life if we just spend time with them. May you know the Lord's comfort as you grieve.

  8. C,

She's just beautiful -- and it sounds like she was one heck of a woman who knew how to life her life to the fullest! If we could all only be that adventurous!

I'm thinking of you -- and I'm going to say some extra prayers for her and her family tomorrow at Mass.

    Hugs!

  9. Sounds like she had a long full life, but I know you will miss her. My 89 year old Grandmother came to live with us almost a month ago. We are enjoying having her here. You should hear some of the stories she tells!
